School security that knows who belongs on campus

A school security system has one job above all others: knowing, at any moment, whether the people on campus are supposed to be there. PGAK's analytics can be evaluated on the campus CCTV a school already has — logging visitors at the gate, flagging people lingering near entrances during school hours, and alerting on people on the grounds after the last bell. We do not recommend enrolling children's faces.

At the gate, during school hours

Drop-off and pick-up are the two windows where a campus is most open and least controllable. Alerts at the gate can give the guard a second pair of eyes while a queue of two hundred parents demands attention.

Unknown-adult alerts

A person loitering near a gate or entrance during school hours can be flagged to the front office with a snapshot for a human to judge — evaluated at your gate.

Staff recognition, not student recognition

Where the school chooses face recognition, it can be evaluated for adult staff who consent. We do not recommend enrolling children's faces; visitors are handled by a snapshot log at the gate that a person checks.

Vehicle logging

Buses, staff cars and visitor vehicles can be logged at entry and exit.

Attendance: staff at the gate, students on the register

Face-based attendance can be evaluated for staff at the gate. For students, we do not recommend face templates — the class register remains the record, and the gate log shows who came through and when.

After hours: the campus becomes a perimeter

Schools are attractive targets when empty — electronics, equipment, copper. Once the campus closes, a person detected on the grounds can raise an alert to the principal and the security contact, with a clip attached — evaluated on your cameras.

Safeguarding and privacy

This is a school, so the bar is higher. Processing stays on-premises, cameras go on gates, corridors and grounds rather than in classrooms or any private area, children's faces are not enrolled, any staff enrolment and its retention are agreed in writing, and access is restricted to named staff. Every one of those is a policy question as much as a technical one, and we set it up with you rather than around you.

What to check before deployment

Camera and recorder streams: Confirm RTSP access or ONVIF discovery, stream stability and the views that matter. Do not send camera passwords in the enquiry form.
On-site processing: Ask which processing device is needed, how it is sized, what runs locally and what information leaves the site.
Alert acceptance: Test agreed zones in daytime and at night. Record useful alerts, nuisance alerts, missed events and end-to-end alert delay.
Complete commercial quote: Confirm enabled cameras, sites, subscription, setup, hardware, taxes and support. Use the assessed scope to compare proposals.

school security system — common questions

Are cameras placed inside classrooms?

We recommend against it and it isn't needed. Gates, corridors, entrances, grounds and perimeters give you the security and attendance value without putting cameras in learning or private spaces.

How is students' face data protected?

We do not recommend enrolling students' faces at all — the safest face data is data that is never collected. Processing runs on a device at the school, so video stays on campus by default, and only named staff can access the system. If a school chooses staff recognition, what is stored and for how long is agreed in writing.

Can it flag an unknown adult near the school gate?

It can be evaluated at your gate. A person who lingers near an entrance during school hours can be flagged to the front office with a snapshot for a human to judge — without enrolling children.

Does it replace our attendance registers?

We do not recommend replacing student registers with face recognition. A gate log can sit alongside the register, and staff attendance at the gate can be evaluated separately.
