Real-time intrusion alerts — because evidence at 9am is not security

Real-time CCTV intrusion alerts are the whole point of putting intelligence on a camera. The aim is a notification with a snapshot, the camera name and a timestamp soon after a person crosses a boundary you defined — early enough that a phone call, a siren or a guard walking over can still change the outcome. PGAK has no published intrusion demonstration yet, so how quickly alerts arrive is measured at your site and confirmed in the written scope.

How real-time cctv intrusion alerts works

  1. Define the boundary

Draw a line or a zone on the camera view — a compound wall, a stock aisle, a till area, a roof access.

  2. Set who and when

Which object classes count, which hours are armed, and which enrolled people are exempt.

  3. Deliver the alert

The alert carries the triggering snapshot so the recipient can judge without opening the app. Which delivery channels are used at your site is confirmed in the written scope.

  4. Escalate if nobody responds

Escalation of an unacknowledged alert — to a second contact, an on-site siren or strobe, or a floodlight — can be configured and tested where the site's hardware allows, and is confirmed in the written scope.

Where it earns its keep

  • After-hours entry into a closed shop, office or school
  • Loading bay activity outside dispatch windows
  • Perimeter and roof-access breaches
  • Restricted rooms — pharmacies, server rooms, high-value stock aisles

What it won’t do

Every AI vendor lists strengths. These are the limits, so you can plan around them instead of discovering them.

  • Alert delivery depends on the recipient's mobile network; the detection runs locally, but the notification is only as fast as the network and the phone receiving it.
  • An alert is not a response. It buys you the minutes to act — the value comes from having decided in advance who acts.

Real-time intrusion alerts — common questions

How fast is 'real time'?

PGAK has not published a measured alert time. The time from detection to notification is measured on your own site during testing and written into the scope. Much of the variation comes from the phone's network rather than the on-site detection.

Can it trigger a siren instead of just my phone?

It can be configured and tested where your siren, strobe, floodlight or public-address system can accept a trigger — that is checked at the survey and confirmed in the written scope. On perimeters, deterrence during the approach is usually worth more than a notification.

What if I'm asleep and miss the alert?

Escalation — moving an unacknowledged alert to a second contact after a set interval, or triggering a site-local response that doesn't depend on anyone being awake — can be configured and tested at your site and confirmed in the written scope.

Intrusion and line crossing: estimate it for your site

Use your own measurements. The result is the staff time released, shown separately from any cash, using the formula below. It runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.

Fields start empty. A blank is “not entered”, not zero; type 0 where 0 is true.

Money (optional)

Salary plus benefits and overheads, per working hour. Needed only if you enter a realisation above 0%.

0% unless you can name the mechanism — overtime that stops, a post not refilled, a contract reduced.

Only from your own records. May be negative.

Licences, support, connectivity. Enter 0 if there is none.

Hardware, installation, commissioning. Enter 0 if there is none.

Enter every amount on the same basis — all including GST or all excluding it. Nothing here adds or removes tax. Values are nominal rupees, not discounted.

Result

Enter your own figures, or load the worked example, to see the result.

How it is calculated

hours = events × (old − pilot) ÷ 60 − verification hours

Worked example (illustrative inputs)

200 events; 4 old; 1 pilot; 2 verification hours.

staff time released: 8 hours a month.

Formula version 1.0.0. The full standalone tool: false alarm cost.

What this does not tell you

  • Hours released are capacity, not cash. They become cash only through a mechanism you state — overtime that stops, a post that is not refilled — entered as the realisation fraction.
  • The 'after' values are your assumptions or pilot measurements. PGAK publishes no effectiveness figure for this feature.

Evidence status: Supplier/integration or marketed capability; PGAK availability and site performance require verification.

Discuss your camera setup

Share your phone number, city and camera count. We will clarify the intended use case and agree assessment scope and timing with you. Do not submit camera credentials or footage.
